Future technology, logistics and storage of forest energy

WP2_BOKU_Storage.JPG

The overall goal of this WP is to create radical innovation and improvements in the harvesting, transporting and biomass storage systems based on detailed technology assessments and logistical analysis. These results will be implemented directly in the optimization process that is within the scope of this work package, which in turn is integral to the overall project. The analysis will be done on both the strategic and operational levels.

The objectives are to improve the performance of single machines and entire logistics of feedstock supply concerning cost and energy efficiency within the following subtasks:

  1. Identification of innovations applicable in forest biomass supply
  2. Technology performance evaluation, improvement and innovation
  3. Storage and quality management of residual forest biomass
  4. Full supply chain performance estimation and streamlining
  5. Supply networks reengineering
